FAQ YIN-YANG

Can the laws of destruction make several pawns disappear?
No, the laws of destruction can only make one pawn disappear per turn.

Can settlement laws make a single pawn appear?
No, settlement laws can show only 2 pawns

Can we change a contradictory law?
Yes, like any other law, provided you can apply the adaptation law.

Can an adaptation law be used several times?
Yes. Like any law, once laid it can be reused provided that the cause is present on the set

Can we pretend to change a law?
Yes. Because the amendments are secret, no one can verify whether you are actually changing a law. It can be a bluff.

Can an adaptation law be contradictory?
Like any law, in order to be able to lay it down, a law with the same cause must not already be laid down. This is a very disabling situation. To avoid this, it may be wise to ask it as soon as possible, even if it means pretending to change a law.

Can we have several adaptation laws?
Yes. And you can have none. You do absolutely what you want with your four laws. Several adaptation laws can make it possible not to be blocked by a contradiction. But it's expensive.

Can we use a law set by the opponent?
No. It would seem useful especially to use its adaptation law, but it is not allowed.

Can I make two laws with the same cause?
No. The contradiction is not only seen in comparison with the laws of the adversary. Generally speaking, there cannot be two laws on the set with the same cause, regardless of the owners.

STRATEGIC TIPS

1) It is very difficult to win if you can no longer use your adaptation law

2) It is therefore necessary to lay down very early its law of adaptation to avoid that it is blocked by a law of the adversary (reminder of rule: one can not lay down a law if a law having the same cause has already been laid)

3) The adaptation law should have as part cause a configuration that is fairly easy to obtain

4) It is necessary to seek to prevent the adversary from using his law of adaptation by avoiding that the configuration that is necessary for him can occur

5) Your opponent will try to prevent you from using your adaptation law. Make sure that it will take at least two shots to destroy the necessary configuration. If not, urgently create another alternative adaptation law

6) If you play white, it is better to have prepared from the outset two laws of adaptation in case your opponent lays down a law that blocks one. Or prepare a law whose necessary configuration will probably not be used by the adversary.

7) If the adversary poses a law of Destruction that annoys you a lot, one way to counter it is to create a law because of the effect of the adversary's law. Thus, every time he attacks with this law you will immediately retaliate with yours. The effect is particularly deterrent if you retaliate with a settlement law.

8) The laws of Settlement are stronger than the laws of Destruction since they make 2 pawns appear while the laws of Destruction make only one disappear. But they are more difficult to place since you need at least two free spaces in the Cause part. So think that every time you leave two free spaces in a square, your opponent may be able to take advantage of it.

9) Be careful! It is not uncommon for a player who has just repopulated to suffocate himself by not realizing that he no longer has space to move or law to play. Some skilled players have become experts in how to make their opponents lose by adding pawns to them. So, it is generally good to have more pawns than your opponent, but sometimes it can backfire.

10) Two or three essential laws must be laid down quickly enough to be sure that they will not be blocked. But it is good to keep one secret as much as possible so that your opponent lacks information. It is thus possible to set traps or bluff.

11) It is advisable to watch the last 2 or 3 games of your next opponent, in order to know if he tends to always prepare the same laws and in this case adapt his own game to his own. This is especially easy when playing turn-based on Board Game Arena, as you can take the time to inform yourself before starting the game.
